Okay, so maybe I won’t bore you with all the details of my latest investment, but as my last cameras were beginning to show their age, I decided to take the plunge and invest in some tasty new gear.  It’s never just new cameras though, along with this are new memory cards, batteries, insurance, RAM...

VIDEO • Fashion & Lighting on location

A few weeks back me and my two photographer buddies, Phil Barber and Barnaby Aldrick were looking at lots of cool stateside photographers by the likes of David Jay, Jasmin*, Dave Hill and Chase Jarvis who are all creating short promotional videos to show on their websites.
The three of us blog on a regular basis...

Great skills dude! Your blogs are becoming as epic in length as mine…

The video rules.

Awesome edit of the video Rob, top drawer! Can’t wait for the next one! I think your images of Matt are really strong too, I know he had some more mad ideas too :)

VIDEO-BLOG • Headshots

After some talk about all things photography with two good chums of mine, Phil Barber & Barnaby Aldrick, we all inadvertently forced ourselves into the world of online Video Blogging. “That’s a great idea”, we all said, gave each other a deadline, shook hands and finished our fish-finger sandwiches. A week later and...

I can hold the cue cards for you.

Yeah, I’m not the most natural on-screen presenter there is! Maybe I should try scripting it next time . . .

Number 1 reason why I love being a photographer? So I don’t have to be in front of the lens :) Watch that space, website overhaul in progress!

Thanks Cris, you need to get your blog-on! None of this Coming Soon! I’m definitely a lot more professional behind a camera, and now I know what it feels like when I tell my clients “just relax” . . . yeah right. Thanks again for the comment, and let me know when you’re up and blogging • R

Fantastic video Rob, a perfect start to the world of video blogging. I’d love to see some stuff shot on location etc…

Rob17/07/2009 - 9:57 AM

Thanks, I’m planning a video on how I shoot headshots (aimed more for clients rather than photographers, although you will get a cheeky peek at the infamous set-up I use) and also one on the post-production and retouching of headshots; how I give it the final 20% Watch this space. R

Brilliant bro. Love the vid. Nice use of image examples (full/closeup pans) & overdubbage! Good work.

Great to see you onscreen bro. I’m gonna do a bobbling head soon, too!

I’d love to see a tutorial on the lighting setup you use for the flashed headshots. They look so crispy nice.
